and is called: “A Race of Born Pederasts”: Sir Richard Burton, Homosexuality, and the Arabs – by Colette Colligan, Simon Fraser University.

If you go on to the publisher’s website – www.tandf.co.uk/journals - you can register and have access to free online samples, including the essay on Burton (type in the title, or go to the latest issue of Nineteenth-Century Contexts), which can then be downloaded. (I suspect that once the next issue comes out, you’ll have to pay / subscribe to see the article.) The essay has useful & wide-ranging notes & bibliography, and underlines Burton’s role in the period’s burgeoning discussion of (homo)sexuality.

Hi Jeremy. I got to the article you told us about (although with a lot of difficulty) and finally managed to access it free of charge as a sample. However, it appears to be a read only document which means you cannot download and save it. Believe me, I tried very very hard to save it as individual pages in html and as the whole thing in pdf format but no joy. Eventually, I was reduced to printing off hard copy (and it dosn't even like that; very printer unfriendly). The best way seems to be to print the pdf version in actual size (as opposed to the miniscule size version that comes up first) with the 'fit to paper' printing function on. Anyway, thank you for alerting me to the existence of this article which is facinating and has a fantastic set of references and bibliography to nose about in. Best regards, Toni Pilbrow.

I had a bit of trouble trying to download it too - though I assumed this was mainly due to my "techno-clumsiness" and antiquated computer!
In the end I created a Word document, into which I copied and pasted each page of the article. Once that was done, I could then increase the print size, and generally mess around to get the presentation I wanted. Not hyper-efficient or -rapid, but the best I could come up with!

I'm doing a MA research about a fiction book that fictionalizes an episode
of Burton's life. It's actually a spanish american book. I'd like to read this
article about Burton (homo)sexually because, even if it's not interesting for my
research, it's nice to know more about Richard Burton. Would someone help me with this? I tried to get the article but I couldn't. I won't pay for that because I live in Brazil and the cost is expensive for me.
