I've read that RFB could speak 29+ languages. I have a few questions about his ability though

1. Was he fluent in all or only in the main ones that he used?
2. What was his technique to learn the languages(apart from going native)?
3. What were his sources for learning(unlike today where there is the internet and wider access to books, plus the endless suppliers of learning material)?

I would like to able to speak a few languages to a fluent level, so I find RFB an interesting subject.

thanks

This topic was discussed quite a bit before, at topic.php?board=Burton&topic=1 . That's not to say the last word's been said...
