Just finished Edward Rice's Capt Sir R F Burton.

Has there been any information of this Perfumed Garden translated by anyone else.

Interesting book and interesting man- He seems to have been a typical Aries cusp personality. Yes difficult to say after only reading about him. And coming out of the Victorian period - yet remember that Prince Albert is popularized now by piercing the penis with a ring - from his period ( Prince Albert ) men would pierce the penis to tie it to leg for no bulge apperience- quite the quandry now that it is done for eroticism.

Interesting that out of such repression comes quite the opposite. Of course has anything really changed. seems like we have only gotten bigger as a society

Peace :

I do not know if the following translations contain a '21st Chapter', but you might find

them of interest :

(Ed.) Dunn, Philip
The perfumed garden
Hamlyn, 2003
192 p.
0600609006

(Ed.) Colville, Jim
The perfumed garden of sensual delight
[Ser.: The Kegan Paul Arabia library ; v.7]
Kegan Paul International, 1999.
xiii, 82 p.
071030644X

(Ed.) 'H.E.J.'
The glory of the perfumed garden : the missing flowers
Panther, 1978.; [originally published: Spearman, 1975. 0854351620.]
333 p.
0586042229 (pbk)

The latter was promoted specifically as containing the parts Burton omitted, and is

available second-hand from many web-sites. The 2003 edition is described as a "fresh

adaptation". I am sure your thoughts on these editions would be appreciated by other

readers of this board, when you have had a chance to give them your consideration.

Depending upon the resources available to you, MS. copies might be available, also, in the

larger Oriental national libraries.

Best wishes, Neil.
