Was a copy of this report ever located? Perhaps either in General Napier's private documents, or the East India Company, etc.? I know that Fawn Brodie searched without success.

I don't think people should be too hard on Burton for writing such a report. How do we know it ever existed. Burton was a complete heterosexual and such a report would have been written to compromise British soldiers who were living then, more than anyone else. I do not think it is the sort of writing he would want people to remember. He also probably would have encyphered it in illegible handwriting.

There's no agenda here about Burton's sexuality. The report was originally given to General Napier (not encyphered), who was less than pleased with the information. It did exist by Burton's own words.

Queen Victoria read a copy?! What source do you cite for that?
