| | Subject | Welcome back to the discussion board | | Name | Timothy Spalding (editor) (editor isidore-of-seville.com) | | Written | Dec. 7, 2003, 1:19am | Thanks for coming back!
Some months ago the old board was hijacked by an unscrupulous commercial firm, who flooded it with spam. I was busy working and getting married, and my original scripts weren't good at shooting spam down, so the board filled up with junk and died.
The new board has strong anti-spam defenses. First, if you see an abusive message, click "report abuse." After a couple of reports, the system takes the message down. Second, I will also be watching the boards, removing messages and blocking IP addresses.
So, thanks for coming back, and let's get back into Burton!

| | Subject | Calling down evil on ImperialBiz.com | | Name | Tim Spalding, editor (editor isidore-of-seville.com) | | Written | Dec. 16, 2003, 11:22pm | I hereby call down evil upon ImperialBiz.com. They have repeatedly spammed this board, heedless of all requests to stop. I ask all and sundry who use this board to do everything in your power to screw and hinder them, within the law of course. The last post came from the IP 202.142.82.5.
Thank you,
Tim |

| | Subject | Email delivered to ImperialBiz = Fair Warning | | Name | Tim Spalding, editor (editor isidore-of-seville.com) | | Written | Dec. 16, 2003, 11:31pm | I have repeatedly told you not to post on the Richard Burton bulletin board. You have caused me untold hardship and cost. I hereby tell you again. I also note that I have published my complaint on the board, together with a request that my humble, numerous and tech-savy users do everything in their power to injure your company, within the law of course.
I hereby inform you that any more spam to my board will be interpreted as a desperate cry for help. You are, I believe spamming because you desire spam! This is a common psychological affliction, but fortunately a curable one. Over the course of your spamming here and elsewhere on the internet, from now back as far as Alexa's Web Archive reaches, did you ever leave a working email address? Kiss it goodbye.
Yours sincerely,
Tim Spalding |

| | Subject | imperialbiz | | Name | Alan Q (aquilici the-onramp.net) | | Written | Dec. 18, 2003, 12:51am | Should a valid email address for ImperialBiz ever show up, I, for one, would be happy to add it to my address book so I could foreward on all the other spam I get daily! It wouldn't take much more time than I already waste deleting it unread, and possibly serve a better purpose. I would love to have RFB back for one morning just to get his reaction to my junk mail!

Reminds me of something David Weinberger says, how pornography you once had to go to Sweden to find, now arrives in your inbox unsolicited! |
